One of my writings...

This poem is always fun for me to re-read. It's not eloquent, but I hope you get the visual. I spotted this woman outside the building where all of my college classes are located.
P.S. The poem is in the Villanelle style. I rarely use a form, so with this, I wanted to break from my norm actually....and be conventional.

“She better not”

I seem to have a staring problem.
She was on her cell phone
She turned left. Grinned and coughed.

She turned right and took another drag.
She was yelling—using volume advantageously
I seem to have a staring problem.

She was telling the receiver of her plans, her intentions
Her intentions of “beating up” his ex-girlfriend—a conversation full of “she better not” and “Who the hell does she think she is?”
She turned left. Grinned and coughed.

I could see her cream-pale skin
A ring, a flesh curtain moving above her jeans
I seem to have a staring problem.

Her purse was covered in dangling sequins
Miniature chandeliers: suited for miniature dining rooms
She turned left. Grinned and coughed.

I glimpsed her tattoo, on her neck permanently,
It said “Princess.”
I seem to have a staring problem.
She turned left. Grinned and coughed.
